The main elements of the library are based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne whilst the live micro-organisms are residents and part of the microbiology collection at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/ascus.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">ASCUS<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>As a publicly accessible arts &amp; science laboratory, ASCUS is able to facilitate engagement with the E-NUMBER producing micro-organisms within its own laboratory, and also at satellite venues through a temporary Bio-Safety Level 1 License.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-light-green-cyan-color\">Bio Safety License<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Bio-Safety Level 1 License is required by the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/biosafety\/gmo\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">HSE<\/a> (Health &amp; Safety Executive) when working with GMO&#8217;s (Genetically Engineered Microorganisms). As the live microorganisms within the E-Numbers library fall under this category, a temporary license is required for hands-on use or exhibition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ASCUS, as a Bio-Safety Level 1 safe laboratory is able to offer advice on using and transporting the E-numbers micro-organism to locations within the U.K. ASCUS has previously provided the relevant support, protocols and documentation for workshops and exhibitions to use and display the live engineered E-Number organisms for a workshop at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microfoodlibrary.org\/library\/out-greenlab\/\">GreenLab<\/a>, London and for an exhibition at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microfoodlibrary.org\/library\/out-great-north-museum\/\">Great North Museum: Hancock<\/a>, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-light-green-cyan-color\">Location<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-ac23231c-416d-4c24-a240-12eee12fe8a7\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-light-green-cyan-color\"><strong>The E-Number v2.0 library is located between two sites, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and ASCUS, Edinburgh.
